Plant Care
Thank You for Choosing Beautiful Blooms!
We hope your gift brought the joy and beauty we intended!
If you’ve received a Phalaenopsis (pronounced fal-eh-NOP-sis) orchid, you’re in the right place for expert care guidance. Our orchids are grown from seedlings right here in Jamaica, carefully cultivated to thrive in our tropical climate—unlike imported orchids that are shipped only at blooming stage.
Your plant came fresh from our well-ventilated greenhouse, not from a shelf in a store, which means it’s vibrant, healthy, and ready to brighten your space and your mood.
🪴 Placement Tips
Your orchid is already in a breathable, decorative container—no tight wrapping to restrict airflow.
Phalaenopsis orchids are indoor plants that enjoy bright, indirect light and good air circulation. Ideal spots include:
Near a window (but out of direct sunlight)
On patios with filtered light
Inside air-conditioned spaces (avoid direct air from vents or fans)
🌟 Did You Know? Orchids are sensitive to ethylene gas released by ripening fruits. Keep them away from fruit bowls to prevent premature flower drop.
💧 Watering Instructions
Water your orchid when the potting medium feels dry to the touch. This is typically every 1–2 weeks, depending on the season.
To water properly:
Remove the orchid from its decorative container.
Submerge the pot in a bowl of water or rinse under a gentle tap.
Avoid wetting the leaves, especially the crown (where leaves meet in the center).
If water gets on the leaves, blot gently with a paper towel.
Let the pot drain completely before placing it back in its container.
🌞 Morning watering is best.
🌱 A balanced, water-soluble fertilizer can be added occasionally.
💧 Using 3% hydrogen peroxide occasionally in your water helps prevent root diseases by keeping the medium clean.
✂️ After Flowering
Once your orchid drops its blooms, you can trim the flower stem:
For quick reblooming: Cut just above the node (the small bump) below the last flower.
For bigger blooms later on: Cut the stem lower, closer to the base.
If the stem is dry, cut it off near the base of the plant.
Your orchid may rebloom in the cooler months, so keep caring for it with patience!
💚 Enjoy Your Orchid
This plant was nurtured with love and care, and we hope it brings peace and beauty to your space. Thank you again for choosing Beautiful Blooms!
